Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Working template. A live tutoring service for minors should have this reviewed by a safeguarding professional and name a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) before launch.
1. Our commitment
The welfare of children and young people is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe environment and to acting on any concern about a child's safety.
2. Tutor verification
- Identity and qualifications are verified before a tutor is published.
- Tutors working with under-18s are required to hold a valid Enhanced DBS check.
- DBS and verification status are recorded and reviewed by our admin team.
3. Online lesson safety
- We encourage parents/guardians to be present or nearby during lessons with younger students.
- Initial contact happens through the platform's monitored messaging.
- Tutors must maintain professional boundaries at all times.
4. Reporting a concern
If you have a safeguarding concern, contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead immediately at safeguarding@scholarsgate.co.uk. In an emergency where a child is at immediate risk, call 999. You can also contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000.
5. Our response
All reports are taken seriously, recorded, and handled confidentially. We will cooperate with the relevant authorities and may suspend accounts while a concern is investigated.
